Megan Buys

PSYCHOTHERAPIST + COUNSELLOR

Meet Megan

Hey there! I’m so glad you made it here. Welcome to Finding Space: a therapy practice which blends both creative and empowering modalities for those seeking support, guidance, excitement, and deep care.

My name is Megan Buys. As I type this introduction out, I keep drawing myself back to the questions “who am I?” and “who am I as a therapist?” To be honest with you, I am not sure I can separate the two.

To begin, I am a registered counsellor and psychotherapist. I have completed a Bachelor of Communication and Master of Counselling at The University of Notre Dame, and hold my registration through the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). I am also currently completing a doctorate degree (PhD) at the University of Western Sydney’s Translational Health Research Institute where my research focuses on designing and exploring a psychotherapy program with parts-work and arts-based methods. I am a writer, an academic, a university teacher, and the creator of this practice here: Finding Space.

I am also a sister, daughter, partner, friend, yogi, tea-drinker, ocean-lover, aspirational-runner, and avid list-maker. I am the kind of person who would happily lie on the floor for hours listening to albums in full, and also the kind of person who would love to sit with you to tease out how you can exactly live you life you want to live. I divide my energy between softness and profound focus; similar to how I divide my time between the salty coast of Sydney and the quietness of my partner’s farm in the Central West. As I write this, I’m watching the gum trees cast long shadows over the front paddock, encouraging me to go for a jump in the river before the sun goes down.

As a therapist, I work in a way that can be described as integrative, creative, trauma-informed, uplifting, and deeply understanding. My philosophy as a therapist involves removing myself from an expert position, to sit with you, as just another human with a curious and open mind. I hold a secure, supportive, non-judgemental, and non-pathologising space for you to be fully who you are.

If you would like to learn more about the way we can work together, the modalities I draw from, or the areas I work in, you’re welcome to click over to the Sessions page. If you would like to read the beautiful testimonials from my current clients, you’re welcome to click over to the Client Words page.

If you would love to know even more about me, our incredible therapists, or Finding Space in general, scroll down and reach out. I am curious to know who you are!

With kindness,

Megan

Freya Bronwin

PSYCHOTHERAPIST + COUNSELLOR

Meet Freya

Hey! I’m Freya - a psychotherapist, coach, and organisational consultant. For over a decade, I’ve been helping individuals, families, and teams unlock positive change. Whether you or your family are in the midst of a life transition, navigating relationship challenges, or simply feel like it’s a good time to take stock and move forwards, I’m here for the journey. So, where shall we begin?

I look at “problems” in the wider context of people’s lives, relationships, and cultural influences. We’ll work together as thought-partners to unearth hopes, identify the challenges that are getting in the way, and magnify the strengths and resources you have to overcome them. My therapeutic approach blends Systemic Therapies, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.

Originally from the UK, I draw on experience from a range of settings; including frontline services (NHS, Samaritans), community services (schools), and creative corporate worlds (Google, BBC, ad agencies). I also run Reframe Sessions; a therapeutic service that supports everyday athletes who are up against injury.

At Finding Space, I work with individuals, couples, and families. I have a special interest in life transitions (adolescence, career changes and unemployment, perinatal mental health support, and other big life changes) relationships (couples therapy, family therapy, LGBTQIA+ experience, and post-separation support), and supporting individuals to develop a greater sense of self (e.g. managing anxiety, building confidence).

My core training includes a BSc in Psychology, Postgraduate Diploma in Systemic Family Therapy, Advanced Practice in Narrative Therapy, and a Masters in Clinical Family Therapy (2025). I am also trained in working with Complex Trauma, Single Session Solution Focused Therapy, and Performance Coaching as Certified Red2Blue Coach.

Dan Gaffney

PSYCHOTHERAPIST + COUNSELLOR

Meet Dan

Hello and welcome, I’m Dan.

The piano player Billy Joel sang, “we all have a face that we hide away forever, and we take them out and show ourselves, when everyone has gone.” I quote him because I believe the healing one seeks in therapy can only begin by revealing one’s private self to another. It’s a place that’s earned, slowly but surely, when client and therapist tell the truth to each other. Doing so is the heart of the therapeutic relationship; one that is built on trust and vulnerability.

I employ a human-centred approach that draws on a range of cognitive-behavioural therapies (CBT) that help to recognise unhelpful thought and behaviour patterns. It is based on the idea that one’s thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected and affect each other. CBT informs many useful approaches. These include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy and Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy. Together, these are effective for people with a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, personality disorders, intrusive thoughts, post-traumatic stress, sleep issues, and addictive behaviours.

I think it’s valuable for you to develop an awareness of your unique cycles of experience, so you understand what you want to find peace with, to nurture and let in, or to integrate and let go. I’m committed to creating a genuine therapeutic relationship with you that is built on respect, safety, and mutual honesty. Everything we do will be collaborative.

My training includes a Master of Arts in Psychology, Graduate Diploma in Counselling, Master of Public Health, and a Graduate Diploma in Adult Education. Outside of counselling, I’m a father and grandfather, an author and podcaster, a palliative care support volunteer, and a men’s group facilitator. I live in the Blue Mountains where you will often find me bushwalking or practicing yoga.

Crawf Weir

PSYCHOTHERAPIST + COUNSELLOR

Hello! I’m Crawf, a registered psychotherapist specialising in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy.

My approach centres around creating a warm and inviting space where you can feel empowered to heal your inner world. I believe that when we truly understand our challenging thoughts and feelings, we can unlock our full potential and authenticity.

I specialise in working with adults who may feel lost or believe that life hasn’t turned out as they hoped. Whether you're navigating significant life changes, healing from past traumas, struggling in your relationships, or simply trying to reconnect with what brings you joy and purpose, I’m here to walk alongside you on your journey. This process fosters self-awareness and aligns you with your core values, allowing you to transform defensive behaviours that no longer serve you. This work is about cultivating meaning and purpose—a life worth living.

I hold a master’s degree in counselling and am a qualified IFS therapist, complemented by additional training in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Through our work together, clients can explore and embrace their most vulnerable parts, offering them the compassion and understanding they may have lacked in the past.

In my personal life, I'm a passionate English football fan and enjoy cooking, especially Indian curries. I love getting out on my bike and walking in nature with my beautiful dog, Bodhi. Meditation and mindfulness are important to me, helping me stay grounded in my everyday life and as a therapist.

Rachel Beck

COUNSELLOR + PROVISIONAL SOCIAL WORKER

Meet Rachel

Hello! Thanks for stopping by, I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.

Let me start with an introduction. I’m Rachel, and I wear many hats. I’m a counsellor and provisional social worker, a yoga teacher, surfer, a friend, daughter, and sister, and so much more.

As a counsellor and provisional social worker, we understand that as individuals, we are all intrinsically linked and influenced by our environments. As such, I take a holistic approach to mental health and wellbeing, honouring the depth and uniqueness of the person sitting across from me, their life experiences, and worlds they operate in. I embrace Eastern and Western modalities, and take a trauma informed, strengths-based, person-centred approach. I believe that as humans, we all have the capacity to grow, heal, and return home to ourselves, and sometimes need a little help along the way.

In a typical session with me, you will be invited to explore different therapeutic tools that meet you where you are, and where you want to go. Whether this is through talk therapy, somatic approaches, or mindfulness-based practices, I intend to hold a supportive, non-judgemental and non-pathologising space for you to be all that you are.  I work with a range of people, including teens and young adults, those experiencing anxiety and stress, indecision or self doubt, interpersonal challenges, trauma, and loss.

I am currently studying a Masters of Social Work with the University of Sydney, and have a Bachelor in Media and Communications with the University of New South Wales. I’ve also completed more than 500 hours of Yoga Teacher Training, including Yoga for Trauma, Anxiety, Depression and Body Image. I hold a deep interest in Emotion Focused Therapy, Somatic Therapies, and  Interpersonal Therapy. My work as a counsellor can be described as one that is compassionate, uplifting, supportive, and dedicated to creating a safe space.

I took the scenic road to get here. Over the last 15 years, I’ve worked in the technology and music industries, and have been a Yoga teacher for half of that time. Yoga showed me how interwoven the body and mind are, beautifully echoed by neuroscientist Candance Pert, “Your mind is in every cell of your body”. This insight became the road that led me to pursue studies, and ultimately a vocation that bridges these spheres, to support mental health and well-being holistically.

If you feel this strikes a chord with you, I’d love to meet you.

Margot Robinson

PSYCHOTHERAPIST + COUNSELLOR

Meet Margot

Hi there!

I’m passionate about helping individuals build and sustain functional, healthy relationships – with themselves, partners, family and the world at large - while investigating meaning and identity in their lives.

I work with a variety of clients including those navigating anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, life transitions and interpersonal struggles. Let's look to find opportunities for personal growth as we find our way through these challenges. There is a power in having a fellow traveller beside you on your way to getting to know yourself, and I would be honoured to accompany you for this journey.

I utilise an integrative approach incorporating elements of including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person-Centred Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy, Gottman Method Relationship Therapy, Schema therapy, Emotionally focused therapy with an Interpersonal and Existential focus. I have completed a Master of Counselling at The University of Notre Dame, and am also a member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).

In our conversations you will feel safe to explore freely who you are, and who you want to be. I invite you to talk and make sense of your needs, aims and experiences. With shared curiosity you will teach me about what makes you ‘you’ and together we’ll explore ways you find and create meaning and use that knowledge to effect positive changes in your life.

Lucienne Sabel

PSYCHOTHERAPIST + COUNSELLOR

Meet Lucienne

Hello, it’s so lovely to meet you. Let me tell you a little about me, and in turn I hope to hear your story.

I’m Lucienne, among many things I am a psychotherapist, although that’s not where my journey started. Before I landed here, my work began teaching yoga. For many years I worked with the physical body, learning its terrain, guiding people back to a familiarity with this place. This led me to an understanding that our minds, emotions and stories are inextricably linked with our bodies, they map our experiences. I also believe that bridging the relationship between these seemingly separate parts can lead us back toward a sense of wholeness.

My fascination with this interrelationship took me to further understanding the mind, and I undertook my studies in Counselling and Psychotherapy at The IKON institute of Australia. My work as a therapist is integrative, Person Centred, and Emotion Focused. I draw on evidence based frameworks as well as eastern philosophy and somatic based practises to weave together a space that feels exactly right for you. That may be talking, that may be moving, that may also sometimes look like breathing, drawing or exploring other forms of expression.

I approach my work with a gentleness, and practice in a trauma informed way. Whoever you are, you are welcome in the chair in front of me. No judgement exists in the space between us. My work is to be here for you, with you, as you tell your story.

When I am not sitting in the counselling space, you can usually find me writing poetry or splayed out on a yoga mat in the sun. I’m a passionate bushwalker, I dance way too enthusiastically, cry often, and still regularly forget where I left my keys. See, beyond a therapist, I’m a person, full of feeling, just as you are. It is a privilege to be here for you. Let’s walk this together.

Finding Space is a LGBTQIA+, CALD/BIPOC, SW, and differently abled celebrating space, as well as recognising the challenges and reductive nature of acronyms for some. Intersectional and individual-respecting practice is upheld by us.
